Imagine going to one (1) conference where some dude talks about how to drive traffic to your site, and then unilaterally making the decision to pivot to inane guides. Kotaku was dying, but I didn’t realize the pivot would hit Gizmodo as fast and as potently as it did.

Did Gizmodo get the same edict, but to do 50 tech guides for Boomers per week?

Re: Kotaku: probably because management got tired of hearing how much people hated the new edict they gave their writers to put out 50 game guides per week. Because ignoring what your readers want is surely a great idea.

God, again, I know this isn’t the writer’s fault, but this is absurd. Absolutely no one needs an entire article on basic functions of a singular device. Anyone who owns an iPad either already knows how to do this or can just look it up on the bajillion of other sites this already exists on.

I don’t know what has become of you Gizmodo but I do not like it!!!

Jim Spanfeller is an incompetent herb and his astounding mismanagement of all of G/O should prevent him from ever being in any kind of management/leadership position for the rest of his life.

I think all the comment sections will be gone shortly either by the Herb turning them off or by the sites being sold. I just want to say it was a pleasure reading your comments over the years here, io9 and the Takeout.

I posted that, although maybe others did too.

We should be fine.

Should we though?  Here and Giz are about the last ones standing, and hopes are not high from an end user perspective.

We’ll know for certain when the herb disables comments, I suppose.

RIP Gizmodo.  Going the way of Kotaku with pointless guides.

So are these constant How To guides coming out on Gizmodo similar to the Kotaku editorial edict to create 50 game guides a week?

Sweet Christmas, this is the darkest dumbest fucking timeline...

You recognize that thousands of people will be effected in some way through their job security?

This fucking guy. Every time he buys a minority stake in a publicly traded company, threatens to sell if he doesn’t get his sycophants on the board, then fucks off. I hope Iger just laughs in his face.

Are they “freaking out?” Or are they just taking it seriously and taking action to prevent it from happening?

I35 bridge in MSP, it wasn’t done overnight but still impressively fast to investigate, demolish, remove, and rebuild in around a year. Several barge cranes and an army of people with cutting torches will likely get it cleared surprisingly quickly, rebuild would be a separate story but not as likely to impede commerce.

It’s clearly people gunning to get a Tik-Tok ASAP of the bridge collapse from up close. I’d argue an even more odious brand of idiot than one who is simply trying to go around barricades to get where they (think they are) going.

I appreciate this. Good way to take the piss out of another entirely unnecessary “god fight” in a comment section.
