That is a stretch and not at all what I’m saying.

I’d agree with the research part, the lack of evidence in certain areas of human behavior is maddening. Especially since sexuality and gender are under-researched, and tinted so heavily by “norms” when it is.

I’m saying we can’t correlate this to the video game studies because those are looking at different impulses and societal values. Given the prevalence of rape culture, saying “nah it’s ok to rape robots because tons of kids play violent video games and don’t kill people” isn’t convincing to me.

There’s research of men engaging in rape fantasies with sex dolls?

Um, no...I’m not suggesting men treat dolls like human beings. I’m asking if men already view women as inhumane as sex dolls, what makes us think they won’t take that simulated session into real life?

But if a significant percent of men already consider women to be nothing more than sex dolls....then...???

Are you joking? She’s had plastic surgery every couple of years since she was a teenager. People don’t realize how much until you see her original face.

It *is* a bit disappointing to see this in Jezebel. I remember Jezebel played such strong supporters to Renee Zellweger (while still posting articles about her) when people reacted to her new face reveal.

When did feminism start to mean you had to love every woman and never ever say “Gurl, what happened to your face?” without having to take a feminism purity test? Cuz I’m old as fuck and there’s plenty of women I don’t like. Can I still has feminism or is my card revoked?

Violent rapist aren’t interested in sublimation.

Hmmmm....I know studies have shown that simulated violence doesn’t lead to real world violence. But given that 1 in 6 women has been sexually assaulted, 1 in 4 experience sexual harassment at work, I’m going to say more research needs to be done in this specific instance because as a society, we’ve held that women are

This. Also, the other solution is to just decriminalize sex work in general so that women (and men!) that are engaged in it have legal recourse if they are attacked/treated poorly, which would decrease the amount of trafficking.

Yeah, that Catherine Deneuve reaction to #MeToo earlier this year kinda made me shake my head. Some of the more macho European cultures need to be forcibly dragged into the light of the 21st Century.

Just curious — would your opinion remain the same if the sex dolls were the images of little girls and boys — or babies? If you think they’re no more than a fleshlight, then you’d say yes. But could you really think that it’s a good and healthy thing? Then take that thought and put it back on the woman-image sex dolls.

“Xdolls conveys a degrading image of women.”
