You obviously haven’t seen “The Straight Story”. The only thing to figure out there is how David Lynch made a G-Rated film that’s actually very sweet and comforting. You keep looking for the weird and...nothing.

Lynch is 100% about -feeling- more than -understanding-. There’s no way to say that without being pretentious, but he’s had such a long career that it’s pretty much set in stone at this point that that’s just who he is.

Fair point, anyone not established is probably more fair.

Yeah, even definitionally. Calling something Penny Dreadful is akin to calling it “Horror Pulp Novel” so the show could have worked, I suppose, but seeing as how the original had these monster templates already set out - all they had to do was line them up and find where they intersected. Here, coming up with

I agree. From what I’ve seen in other roles, Michiel Huisman is probably a better actor than Ed Skrein, but Skrein slid perfectly into the “vacant but lethal pretty boy” mold in a way that Huisman didn’t. Part of it for Dany is probably that Daario can be seen as a hollow echo of Khal Drogo, and part of it is that

I really hope Corden isn’t an asshole, because I find him so uncharismatic and unfunny as an entertainer that I’d like to think he at least has found success thanks to a good personality. If he’s an asshole on top of being untalented then I straight-up don’t know what to make of him.

She calls herself that but it’s still not the name she works under. It’s been so long and the author still hasn't fixed hers or Kacey's names. It's irresponsible and disrespectful.

But it's definitely not Kacey Royce.

True, I definitely get the impression that it was something the writers came up with as they were exploring the story, and later introduced by “word of god” rather than being something that was part of the original design. I think they all got a bit caught up in wanting to know more about that mystery, and many of the

Well put. Alien shows you how everything goes wrong, and so, in the final estimation its obvious that it would.

That’s a really solid point. Alien works precisely because at every level, what’s going on just rationalism run amok. The crew gets in the situation they do because Mother woke them up prematurely, overriding her protective role on company orders. They’d have flown right by in cryosleep if Mother hadn’t done so. They

The problem with Alien Covenant, and by extension however Scott continues that story is that it plays the Alien story as Gothic Horror rather than Cosmic Horror.

The Crisis also featured 3 different Barry Allens. Recasting is not hard.

Now that’s just crazy talk

Now playing

Yeah, but Star Crash did have Marjoe as an ersatz Jedi Knight!

well it became, but (like most of the star trek shows) it started quite meh

I think Discovery is the best show. It took it back to its roots.

Since they decided to follow a New 52 continuity after Flashpoint Paradox, the animated movies have been hit or miss. I’ve liked the one-off or elseworld stuff (Assault on Arkham, Gotham by Gaslight. Superman Red Son) but I’ve been less hot on the mainline entries, with Throne of Atlantis, probably being a series low.

Agreed.  I loved the world building.

Eh, it’s more like bog-standard urban fantasy. Shadowrun at least had the cyberpunk elements (though I remain adamant that cyberpunk is fundamentally incompatible with genre fantasy, indeed is totally antithetical to fantasy elements).
