I think there's also a bit of the character that seems…disingenuous. Like he's not really a true friend to people IMO. That maybe he over plays the flamboyance to sort of misdirect people from what he's really up to.

I think Rene is the only keeper out of the new group. He's a jerk but to me he's not so much of a jerk that he disrupts the group.
