Word is yes, AWD is being considered, as is a Mazdaspeed6, and a coupe. Since AWD & diesel are both 'premium' (i.e., $$$) options, I'm sure that if they make it here, you can get both together.

Lots of people say they will buy a diesel/wagon/manual, but no one actually does. Therefore, Mazda not getting your money is exactly what would have happened anyway.
