Well, at least that “holy fuck” seems sincere.

I kind of like origin stories.
Here’s a quote and a link, so people know I’m not making stuff up. You’d think that this would be relevant information for the author of this article to include.
A number of his former colleauges came to his defense and said that he’d been helpful to their careers, or at the very least, that he hadn’t done anything they recognized as damaging towards them.
I think it bears mentioning that there were a number of his female colleagues who defended him, whose careers he’d helped, and they said they certainly didn’t feel he’d ever acted untowards (while still condemning his statements).
I can certainly see the similarities but, in the respects you mention, cooking is similar to any number of other subjects as well, art or science.
That was my primary take away from the CAN-NED game I went to on Tuesday. There’s significantly less whinging from the women than you get in a men’s game. I’ve heard the same assessment independently from at least 3 other people when I spoke with them about the game.
I specifically wrote “straight” instead of “questioning” for a reason.
It’s actually pretty uncool to use ANYONE’S artistic property without their permission, regardless of whether they’re going to sue you for it or not.
Canada has long been more serious about inspecting food than the States.
Interesting, I’ve never heard that before. Not to be rude, but it sounds like a bit of a bunk claim or a justification after the fact. There’s no obvious reason a horse meat would behave differently than cow meat while still attached to the respective animal.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Wikipedia were wrong, but unless a lot has changed in the last 7 years, I don’t think it’s fair to say “you can get dog anywhere.” There are plenty of places that exist, but they’re on the downlow. At the very least, you don’t (or I didn’t) see any restaurants with pictures of happy cartoon…
Please, I’d never feed it to anybody if I thought it would be a moral issue for them. Horse is common on menus here, I believe even Joe Beef (recently named as one of the world’s best restaurants by Restaurant Magazine and conveniently just down the road from me) serves it as steak and tartare.
There’s actually a somewhat parallel situation regarding eating dog in Korea. It was outlawed because, well, Wikipedia isn’t clear, but my understanding is that it was because white people think it’s gross and Koreans don’t want to look gross. The law was rigourously enforced during the ‘88 Olympics.
I see it all the time in Quebec. On the rare occasions I buy pre-ground meat, I’ll get horse meat because it’s cheaper. In chili or spaghetti sauce I’ve never had anybody notice the difference.
The only thing more reliably dumb than the MRA trolls are the people who mimic them and think they’re making some sort of useful point.
I know this is your particular hobby horse, but this is awfully weak evidence to hang one’s hat on.
Now *that* is an unfortunate choice of animal.
Well, presumably her motives were the same as the people who lied about being white, no? She felt there was some sort of advantage to it?
