You are so right.
The fact of her being white passing diminishes nothing. If she did not fit so nicely among the white students, we would not get to hear from her. She’s great. I really don’t care what her DNA makeup is and that is not the point. It’s ridiculous to pretend there are no white Latinos (like, for instance, my best friend)…
What anyone who is not in denial knows: That people who are white passing are received differently than those who are not. They may not be treated as a WASP, but they will not be treated as their darker brethren. This is a fact that is pointless to debate.
Besides, even if he was ‘off,’ the school is still 12% Black. Not 0%, which is pretty much what I’ve seen in all the pictures in all the coverage of this school until today.
Oh, don’t my project my expectations on others, like you’re projecting yours on this thread? Gotcha. The person you quoted think she’s whit passing, and so does the author of the article. Which means you’re in the minority.
Emma is white/white passing. This article is about black kids being ignored. There are Latino’s who identify as white as she is one of them, which is why they specifically went to Chicago to see how black kids deal with the while ignoring the black children in their own school. You didn’t make anything clear except…
I just hope these kids are clear. Get your stage and speak your piece but don’t let outsiders divide you. That’s that they want.
they wouldn’t say a word and they sure as hell wouldn’t give “thoughts and prayers.”
“good for nothing but creating mistrust between civilians and police.”
They have made it clear multiple times that the face of this gun debate isn’t Black and wont be included. Black lives dont matter to them. Ive often wondered how the country and media would handle a school shooting in the hood.
Progressives need to be held to task for this shit just like the Rethuglicans do. No one can “cure” racism and bigotry. It’s a constant struggle to combat our prejudices and bigotry, not a fucking merit badge or trophy you can get and say “tadaaa”.
I swear to God, that before they held a press conference, I thought that there were no black kids at Marjory Stoneman Douglass High. Thanks media, sweet coverage, there...and I don’t want to hear shit about how hard it is/was to find them, if you can find a ignorant bamma every single night on the local news, surely…
I always liked Zab and really didn’t like how he was framed as a “Bad Guy” for how he reacted in the immediate aftermath of having his brain scrambled.
Sometimes you don’t get the sledgehammer—sometimes you get the stiletto right. between. the. ribs.
That was the kind of real talk that let’s you know that, even though she’s classy, she would not be afraid to throw hands if provoked in person. That was at once awesome as hell and scary. Sharon Reed keeps it real, and I bet her white co-workers had never seen her get so real before.
I forgot that it took a whole damn minute for the music to start in that video. We musta had more patience then.
I’m clearly living in the wrong state, make some room!
Of all the crazy shit to happen in the many seasons of that show, the slave-owning severed head of Kathy Bates crying while watching Obama be sworn in is the craziest.
She’s always fantastic. We watch 46 every day at my house!
