Tell that to Del Bosque.
Tell that to Del Bosque.
It's a sad fucking movie full of assholes on display but for those who see sports as a business I guess it's proof that you can make money by promoting a team. I just meant it as a counter to the notion that American bazillionaires don't want to buy a team that could get relegated. And yet, the guy who owns the Red…
Right! Actually Liverpool is owned by the Boston Red Sox ha ha ha.
Followup to my long ramble above:
They're tremendously superweird when you come from a global sport in which local rivalries are at the core of things. While less and less clubs are member-owned these days, most clubs still have their roots in specific cities, even specific neighborhoods. The only American sports team I know is like that is the Green…
I've been here since the 90s and it's still weird. Good point about league domination though. But still—weird. And then again weird.
For every "buy high sell low" story you could have a "buy low sell high" story. Would you invest in the Alabammer Bobcats (or whatever) if you knew they had a chance to make it big? People do that all the time elsewhere.
Ah, the almighty American owner. Privatize profit and socialize risk. Pure pestilence.
I DO NOT LIKE.
The only thing I remember about that book is gin drinks of progressively increased concentration & bananas. (Last drink was gin & bitters as I recall.)
Save it for Tuesday. No games on Monday.
Thanks for letting us know you're stupid!
Ha ha ha… Pelé is awesome. But no.
He starts cursing "mi padre por hacerme hincha de River".
Hay que jugarles con los del Cienciano y el Real Garcilaso.
I had never heard of those. How can it be a 2nd division if it doesn't connect with the 1st one? That's exactly the problem when I'm talking about weird rules. Fighting for your life adds drama to the bottom of the league.
Dude! Adjust your shutter, ha ha ha. No, I like the effect.
When I speak of local I'm talking about going to the stadium, really. If I have to watch on TV I'll just pick the best show. Personally, I like the Bundesliga, even though they are mostly a one-team league these days.
Ahead of who? I grew up in the land of CONMEBOL. La Paz… haa haaaa haaa. Bolivia still gets beaten there though. But hard is good, it will make us tougher. We can always bring them to the Denver snow in return.
Chicken-or-egg problem there. Hard to support a league with an inferiority complex and with weird rules/formats for serious fans. Drafts, conferences, selected players (whatever that's called), weird calendars— all fucking weird. Also, no 2nd division, so no promotion/relegation. There isn't a team/stadium thousands…
