The hilarious thing is that way more people get Legionnaires’ disease from their CAR than from a cruise ship...

This opinion on national labs sounds like it came from a Youtube video — I’ve known a few people working at national labs, and they do some pretty advanced stuff and never have much $$$ for work.

The other things humans have going for them is knowledge of the area that goes beyond simple maps and *memory*. I’d bet that the tesla vision system doesn’t have more than a few seconds of “I am tracking a target” type memory, and absolutely no concept of “oh I might have seen something so I’ll slow down because there

Exactly — I’m just suggesting we make the 51% rule apply for the first ~15 years that the Chinese company is operating in the US.

On one hand, I understand the security risks involved with Chinese cars in the U.S. However, that whole theory starts to fall apart the second you think about

I’m just going to leave this here and see if it gets in the slideshow. Hey — it’s got more seats (and more leg room) than a Miata or even a BMW convertible. What more could you want?

Yeah that makes sense. A lot of the Euro-companies (including VW) have also gone all-in on EV’s and then China popped up and ate their lunch. It’s still VW’s fault, though, since they were one of the first in line to transfer their technical know-how to Chinese companies.

I’d rather call it an ‘early adopter tax’ than a markup. It was a damn expensive early adopter tax, too, since the Plaid base price is $90K.

It’s like they decided to follow Nissan off the cliff, except they spent some money updating their generic CUV-blobs rather than just stopping all development going full-on rental car like Nissan.

I can’t wait for a decade or so when RR makes a Fast and Furious I commemorative edition with bright pink paint, lightning bolts, ground effects, and an actual manifold in the glove box that will become endangered at the touch of a button. It’ll come with his-and-hers checker flag thong underwear with a gold-plated RR

Yeah I’d put Trump as the #1 threat to american democracy, but the human race will survive america limping off into an autocratic, financially ruined country.

This man is the largest threat to humanity that exists.

Yes I was incorrect about them being renderings. Based on news reports, it sounds like all the complex operations of the Optimuses (i.e. more than simple walking) were run by remote human pilots. I wonder if the Cybercab mock-ups were also teleoperated?

You’ve still got to have the finances to be able to pay for one of those unlikely $$$$ repairs — i.e. if you can afford to pay $30-40k cash for a $70k car, then you’re probably OK. If you need to finance it, then IMO get a Toyota/Honda/Buick/etc.

Correcting myself — these are indeed real movie props at a literal movie studio and not *just* rendered images.

I’d guess the reasons for FSD not working in the Vegas tunnels are:

Not just movie props — these are just rendered images of movie props, right? Did they even have a model of one of these on display? It would only cost $100K or so to have a mockup built that looks real on the outside, which is peanuts for Tesla. This whole thing seems like a last minute effort thrown together with AI

Jeep left it on as an “option” so they could make towing capacity and horsepower claims, and nothing more.

Jewish Space Lasers, obviously.  The illuminati did not put them in orbit just for light shows...

How many EV’s will get recalled due to possible defects in their LG-sourced batteries? So far:
