I’m a day late to this but I was reading through the replies to you and got really frustrated because in my head the answer you’re looking for is so easily explained.

No feel free with the going off on your car, my favorite cars are pro-touring classic american muscle and you’re getting really close to that so I’m ALL about it haha.
Comms/Marketing/Social across teams, tracks, sanctioning bodies & manufacturers. I will say it’s definitely jaded my passion over the years working in…
1980. 480 hp, no cage, STOCK BRAKES. My dude you are living on the edge fo sho hahaha.
Ahh yes, that definitely partially explains Gingerman. It’s definitely a momentum track so it’s a lot more fun in lighter or downforce-focused cars. It’s also really hard to enjoy with really high HP stuff, even on the longer config. Autobahn I’ve only been to once early on in my tracking days, so I just happy to be…
I can totally understand not liking either of them, so that’s fair. I’m curious what car you use for the track and what your favorite driven track is?
I’ve been privileged enough to drive most of the pro road courses in the US, and even spent a year working at VIR and enjoying that legend.
80% of the population lives in metro/urban areas around cities. So yes, most of the country. We’re not talking about implementing this for the other 20%.
I will say that both myself and a lot of people holding these views tend to just assume it’s obvious we’re not talking about rural areas instead of actually stating that, yes. I will give you that.
So much this. I don’t understand why gearheads don’t seem to get that reducing car usage for both the boring stuff and for people who don’t care about cars, in turn will make the fun car stuff that much better.
You know what else you never find in rural areas outside of a rare highway blocking accident? Traffic Jams.
It makes sense that a guy with superpowers would make a good hero.
I mean not “for the loss” but not necessarily for the win. Ford’s Bronco R entry into the ‘19 & ‘20 Baja 1000 was a pretty much stock powertrain test bed with the overall vehicle not built anywhere near the limits of the Class 2 category in which it was entered.
It entered for development purposes, with the goal to…
It’s a Focus ST lol.
“It isn’t that bad” isn’t an argument against this, though. Look, I daily a manual and you’re right, it’s not that bad. But every time I use a friend’s car or rental on a work trip I’m reminded how nice it is to not have to even consider what a clutch is while crawling through traffic. If someone is reveling in the…
Ah, no sorry that’s not what I meant haha. I meant what you’re defining as mainstream, I would call standard. I see it as something can be mainstream without being standard.
Mmmmmmh I categorically disagree with that, though. What you’re describing I would call “standard” not “mainstream”. I think almost all manufacturers embracing HUDs, even if not across the board of their products, counts enough to satisfy the dictionary definition. Like square/rectangle, I would call seatbelts…
“Most if not all manufacturers may have a model or two that use them” is absolutely common and mainstream. It doesn’t haven to be something that’s in every single vehicle to be mainstream.
Nothing you said countered or even addressed the point I was making. You literally just echoed what he said in different words.
I just went back through the comments and I’m genuinely not sure I understand which comments you think are doing that. All of them read as something I’d personally just be like “oh wow yep I was dumb and wrong lol” in response to.
I mean “I haven’t personally encountered it and have obviously done zero research outside my own experience before coming to this conclusion” isn’t exactly the ideal way of handling any sort of topic, though.
