It’s an engineering choice: The MV-22 is more than 150 knots faster. If the operational problem is building up a combat force from “Nothing” to “Big enough to defend itself” and you need to do it faster than the enemy can attack you, speed really matters.

It’s because of the NFT. I thought that was obvious.

It’s going to have to be explosively deployed parachutes like Cirrus. Mostly the rotors I’ve seen aren’t heavy enough to store enough kinetic energy to be useful, the motor that goes out isn’t going to be symmetric but well off centerline, and there generally don’t seem to be transmissions that would allow you to

I would have been an investor, if only you were incorporating blockchain. Shame really.

Great article!

Agreed. On my military base, there are a number of foreign exchange officers from other countries. They have all purchased either Mustangs or Jeeps.

You don’t have to use reheat to fly at supersonic speeds. Aircraft capable of “supercruise” - and the Concorde was one of them - can maintain speed above Mach 1 without afterburners.

I suspect you’re right, especially because the admin costs of figuring out exact delivery prices for 6.8 million cars a year would be - burdensome.

People- and cars (because car site):

Depends on how far you’re willing to go - might only be six months!

I think this is just one more step, and not an unreasonable one, from the work that resto-modification companies already do. Eagle E-Types has already been taking Jags down to the bolts and upgrading every piece that can be upgraded, and they’ve been doing it for 45 years. There would seem to be a ready business case

Is there a reason a manufacturer would want two different brake rotors, varying in size by 2/10ths of an inch? Doesn’t sound very Toyota. I’m not sure I’m buying it’s for brake bias.

What a maroon.

Thanks, appreciated.

Five dead in 30-odd races suggests a problem, and certainly warrants a mention in this fawning piece.

Targa Tasmania had two fatal accidents this year, one of them driven by a 68 year old meat whole salesman driving a 911 GT3. “The latest fatalities bring to five the number of competitors killed during the Tasmanian race since the inaugural event in 1992.”

They’re not, as of the last time I checked, which is about every three days.

“We were probably going to use that name and we will offer you ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS to pick something else.” - Microsoft, probably

I mean, if they’re good enough for the Commandant of the Marine Corps...

For a while.
