Thanks for this look back. I took a moment yesterday to listen to her version of “Landslide” from the show. So beautiful and poignant.

I’m happy to hear that she regrets The Help.

Never ever having to face the gut wrenching fear of losing ones home, going hungry or watching ones kids go hungry provides a certain cushion for their emotions. A flattening of effect and affect, if you will, and interrupts the empathetic response.

You need to strike a balance between treating them like kids and the emerging adults they are becoming. It won’t be a 100% working/100% failing, but what has worked with my two oldest (5 years apart, with one in college, one in 8th grade) is getting them to engage whenever the opportunity presents yourself.

He already said back in 2016 he won’t accept the results if he loses. I don’t know why everyone seems to forget that. We aren’t being hyperbolic when we call republicans fascists. They openly admit they won’t accept any loss as legitimate. When you have a president/candidate that outright says they will only accept…

My concern is that if his supporters start believing (or pretending to believe) that the election was stolen, things could get really bad.

Trump has never done anything quietly, so no, he won’t. Even if he gives up power on schedule, he’s going to do everything he can to salvage his reputation with his fans, and that’s going to mean endless complaints about a rigged election, mail-in ballots, illegal voting, etc....

Say what you will about Glee’s writing, but upon reflection, Glee was always really well acted. Naya was probably the best actor of that talented cast. She was such an incredible talent, and her end is heartbreaking.

This is what happens when a Black photographer works with dark skin. It’s not just about how it looks. It’s about the subtext that comes with it. There is deep history in this photograph that a lot of people, Black and white won’t see. (Read the article at the link for more info.)
