The idea of medical care is that you keep people healthy enough to perform their jobs and be productive in society. Elective procedures - those which do not treat or remedy a physiologically threatening condition - aren’t always covered by medical plans.

You’re right, it’s not medically necessary. They shouldn’t be covering that either.

This is an excellent point; the military shouldn’t be paying for Viagra.

A better statistic would be a comparison of ‘elective’ vs. ‘medically necessary’ medical expenses per soldier vs per trans-soldier. Body dysmorphia is an accepted medical condition; should the military pay for liposuction, hair plugs, and breast implants?

We have the highest prison population, some of the harshest sentencing, and also the highest gun ownership. When you make everyone a criminal, threaten them with life-ruining incarceration (or death by cop), and ARM everyone, you’re asking for a bunch of ‘easily startled’ cops and lethal encounters.

I suspect there is a considerable gap between what you imagine vs. reality.

Racism (including institutionalized racism) = bad. Police violence / militarization = bad. Taking another police shooting as an opportunity to push out more divisive race-baiting snark = ???
