The police are out of control. We should all be unifying behind this (most of us are. I live on the opposite side of the planet and people across the spectrum seem to agree U.S. cops are out of control).

Those who believe humans are equal and deserve dignity and opportunity are on our side. Those who believe humans are not equal and deserve to be punished or penalized for the sins of their forbears are against us. This applies regardless of your race, orientation, etc. Keep on living as you think you should live -…
Are you incapable of seeing any news item in terms other than black people vs. white people? Come on, man.
Police brutality and institutionalized racism are now national news items with daily coverage and a broad (and growing) swath of the population expressing outrage and demanding reform. American Gun laws are also on the hot seat internationally now more than ever.
There are people living in trailers, which are also ‘tiny houses’. These people are often making poverty wages. While I find the notion of specially developed tiny houses to be absurd, it’s not exclusively for the upper class. Portability, low footprint, etc. are valid economic benefits to a tiny house in many cases.
Clan and Valley were both masterpieces of speculative fiction, in my opinion. Series got a little more into bodice-ripper territory after the first two books, but man - those first two were awesome.
It affects the cost of education much like minimum wage laws affect the price of fast food — yes, there’s an effect; no, it’s not as large as the anti-union / anti-minimum wage increase lobbies would have you think.
While you complain about ‘subsidies’ AKA investment in infrastructure that don’t directly benefit you - like internet for those in rural communities - remember that rural folks are complaining about other ‘subsidies’ (affordable housing, public transit) that benefit you city dwellers.
If I was your employer you could keep the stoner lifestyle as long as you got your work done. 35 hour work weeks, paid parental leave / work from home and proactive hiring / pay adjustments to enforce 0% gender pay gap. My only issue would be open-toed shoes. You could still wear them, I’d just be jealous because as a…
You made a logical statement and proceeded to respond to subsequent comments calmly, in a measured manner... yeah, you’re not going to win on Jezebel with that attitude.
Yeah, and they should demand a semen sample from all prospective employees as well.
Well said. This is manufactured outrage over a deliberately misinterpreted statement.
I’ve only been waiting 9 years, and I feel you. I read both Jordan and Goodkind from my middle school years and eventually gave up on both series (and most fantasy in general), turning toward sci-fi / speculative fiction since those authors tended to have more concise, philosophically provocative works that ended.
Expecting people to tolerate others’ right to their own beliefs is one thing. Trying to enforce your beliefs on others and/or indoctrinate your own children to be predisposed toward your beliefs (or ones you deem acceptably similar) is quite another.
Slippery slope there.
It’s a little disappointing, to be honest. Animation is of mediocre quality, the voice acting / dialogue are a bit stilted, and instead of having 4 action-packed episodes dealing with Trevor defeating Dracula, they had 4 fairly slow episodes consisting mostly of filler and detailing an unrelated sidequest. I guess…
What a way to waste an international first class ticket. Why not just enjoy the free jammies and pig out on the unlimited drinks and gourmet snacks?
Wonder what (which substance) he was doing in the bathroom. Toxicology report will be interesting!
Illyrio Mopatis, not Illyris Mopatio :)
In response, employers refuse to hire anyone who doesn’t have a diploma.
