I’m sure it’s terrifying for those involved, and I hope no one dies, but this particular incident really seems like some penny-ante local event that we’re only hearing about because of recent larger-scale (and I mean that in a couple of different ways) events and the ratings-magnet phrase “hostage situation.”

It was buried WAY down, after paragraphs and paragraphs of condemnation that pretended the buried context didn’t exist at all.

She got more out of the absurd hype than she’s losing in the backlash against the hype. So it’s hard to feel sorry for her in any of this. Just chalk it up to karma, and a moment she can use for personal growth, and move on.

The echolalia screeching chants that accompanies all these things (see the Yale one earlier...that “AM I BEING DETAINED?!” one from a different genre) really drains me, but that’s more a feature of teenage girls more than anything else. At least they got him to say something idiotic on camera. So a net gain.

Solitary confinement as it is currently used is psychological torture. No one familiar with the study of human psychology, and the reality of humans as a social animal, can possibly think that solitary confinement is anything but a horrific and counter-productive tool.

The Earth is almost certainly flat, these photos — if they are photos, any not just total fabrications — are likely hoaxes (or, at they might say, “enhanced”).

We could see this sort of play every single week if the refs decided to miss 4+ calls per play again. He was down, two blocks in the back, and too many men on the field. If you just decide that those aren’t worth enforcing, you’ll see a LOT more kick returns for touchdowns each week.
