IT upgrades do not result in profit improvement. A company will not approve a project that does not result in profit improvement if it is not required by regulations.  The government needs to regulate this shit the same way they regulate how thick a pipeline should be.

i don’t think we’ll ever have ‘clean’ energy as the generation of such requires resources and results in byproduct, however that shouldn’t stop us from constantly pursuing ever ‘cleaner’ energy technologies.

plus, someone with those credentials is probably employed or highly employable and hasn’t felt desperate enough to search job postings at small, mid-stream oil companies.
