I was still dumbstruck at the level of unaware privilege it takes for someone to ask—with innocence in their heart and every iota of Caucasian curiosity—another human being to patiently explain why it is wrong for a white person to use the absolutely worst racist slur imaginable.

Florida Man takes a rare turn as a genuine superhero.

I think “here is a long list of the ways in which I am a shitty and terrible person” counts as an apology, but ymmv.

His apology was good, but that doesn’t automatically mean he deserves forgiveness. Doing everything he promised to do (listen to women, change his behavior, etc) is still just barely meeting the standards of basic human decency. He doesn’t need any cookies for that.

Good. He SHOULD feel guilty.

Not to mention, his behavior was exposed years ago. If I, a casual Gawker reader, knew this years ago, why are so many men “surprised” by it now?

I’m sorry, but how the hell did any of you get this far without knowing this about him? Gawker exposed this YEARS ago. Somehow no one seemed to care until just now.

That person is a troll. I keep flagging her but no one’s done anything. Some of her posts seem legit in context, but if you go through all of them it’s pretty clear that she is A) trolling, B) about as black as I am*, and C) intentionally acting like a gross racist caricature.

No need for an apology! I understand where you’re coming from. I probably should have specified in my original post that I’m Jewish myself, because criticism sounds pretty different coming from outsiders.

I don’t hate myself enough to read it even once, tyvm.

Elizabeth is smart, I will grant that. I have flagged her a couple of times but she is very good at not writing bannable stuff. WifeWithAPurpose is pretty good at it too. You can tell they are being very careful about saying things in code and tiptoeing around the rules.

YES.

I wish we had DMs on here, because I also make a hobby out of monitoring Twitter Nazis. I have an innocuous fake account that follows them, and I periodically go in from my regular account and report all the Nazis that the first account follows (just in case someone who works at Twitter can see who reported the

It’s true, but so short-sighted. You’d think they’d want their kids to grow up in a better economy & in a society with less crime.

#11 “One black person once said something to me about racism that pissed me off and so now I don’t give a shit about racism anymore” guy

Rahm Emanuel is the worst. I’m still disappointed he didn’t lose his job over the fallout from the Laquan McDonald case.

I wonder if someone thought they knew all about “dairy allergies” (lactose intolerance) and didn’t think it was that serious. I knew someone else who, for that reason, had a hell of a time getting the school to understand that her daughter had an anaphylactic reaction to dairy and could not even be in the lunchroom

Same here, but I think in my case it’s because I got fat. At least there’s SOME benefit.

You would think that even the most cold-hearted, mercenary, “pro-business” Republican would realize that locking up so many regular people just for not paying fines is stupid and bad for the economy.

And let’s not forget that Twitter knows exactly who the Nazis are, because they are legally required to hide them from German users.
