I lived in Scottsdale for three years, and I was surprised to learn that there’s actually quite a few rinks in the Valley, and a pretty decent youth league in place. While it’s not what you’d see in Canada, the infrastructure is basically pretty good for a non-traditional hockey market.

This was my summation to someone in r/arizona yesterday about the saga:

Cardinals in West Valley? No problem! 10 games per year if you count pre-season, and almost always on weekends. Plenty of people make day-trips out of it between tail-gating, shopping, seeing a movie, etc. You’re not catching a game, you’re going to an event.

Ping of the puck going off the post woulda been my number one. When I played I almost liked hitting the post as much as actually scoring.
