Those short stories from Lost Odyssey were written by an actual author—Kiyoshi Shigematsu—and translated by an actual translator—Jay Rubin, who translated many novels by Haruki Murakami! They’re all really good . . . !! In Japan they were published as (huge) short story collection. I love it and I love that game . . .
