I think that because cunt is such a hard sounding word that it becomes more satisfying to say. Like "fuck," which has the nice, hard "K" sound at the end but can be drawn out or emoted in different ways to match the situation - "fuuuuuuck," etc.

I've been saying things are "the tits" for ages. Also, "jesus tits" is a fantastic expletive of sorts. Like, "Jesus tits it is hot out here!"
