Anyone who’s read Marlowe, and read Shakespeare, and still thinks they might be the same dude, is probably illiterate and hasn’t actually read either.

Holy shit, the trolls are coming from everywhere. How does the wunghell troll have nearly as many recommends as your comments? What the ever-loving fuck?
Well, that was easy. Thanks for outing yourself as a dipshit troll.
Wow. You’re seriously an asshole of the highest degree.
She denied it when she was under Luke’s control and manipulation. Victims often lie to protect their abusers due to fear and threats. Surely you have a basic understanding of how abusive relationships work.
“Polanski let himself have sex with an underage person at a big hollywood party 40 years ago, which is awful.”
We all know he was expelled because he raped someone, but I have to say, as a Yale alum, FUCKING FINALLY. This has been a problem on campus (and other campuses obvz) for awhile, but its good to see that Yale is doing the right thing here.
Or soldiers getting memorial tattoos after war experiences, which never happens - oh, wait.
People get tattoos after the death of a child all the time. I know things like this aren't compatible with the conservative MRA "Those feminists/liberals/bitches need to stop whining about rape culture and move on! Men are innocent until proven guilty!" agenda, just like there's the "Quit whining about racism and it…
Do you think people would be able to somehow forget that they’d been raped if they just didn’t get a tattoo?
I’m not bringing anyone out of the greys to comment on the snark but I have to say I don’t see this as being about victimhood. I am not a survivor but every time someone comes out and says “me too,” I am fucking proud of them for making the issue of sexual abuse real, visible, and personal. The majority of people in…
it’s not about that. it’s about survivors and solidarity, not the event itself. at least that’s how i understand this.
But Macklemore is doing what every white person should be doing. Continue to do whatever it is you do, be vocal about your privilege and promote those without privilege. Macklemore regularly features women, people of color and gay artists. He highlights the work they do. What else is he supposed to do?
Imagine how that feels for the woman or women who were at that game listening to the whole crowd cheer the name of her rapist. After he was expelled for raping her. And watching the entire team (who have to know what happened) wearing his name.
I’d imagine the woman or women who were at that game listening to the whole crowd cheer the name of her rapist and watching the entire team who have to know what happened wearing his name. The whole thing sounds like they’re saluting someone tragically lost in a car accident or something, when they are actually…
It is a common tactic of rapists to sue their victims for slander, because the vast, vast, vast majority of sexual assaults are a) not reported to the police and b) hard to prosecute in the rare cases that they are. And because it’s a further way to victimize someone.
Also, if his breadth of knowledge was so unusual and his school so inadequate don’t you think anyone in his time would have noted how implausible that was?
Your entire sentence against him is just based on snobbery. And there is a reason it’s people in literature and theater who think it. I.e. no one who actually has a fucking clue what historical Elizabethian and Jacobian England was like. Because people in the arts today are like them and too Goddamn stupid to know…
I have.
Remember, folks, punching someone who thinks Chrisopher Marlowe or the Earl of Oxford wrote the plays is legal in all English speaking countries!
