I’m not shitting on victims at all! I’m advocating it be taken more seriously. That simply isn’t going to happen if victims don’t step up to report and stand for justice.

BTW, (since this is very much on my mind today) the friend who shot himself did so because friends like me didn’t believe him. I totally up and abandoned the guy and took her side, not realizing something else could’ve been possible. I wasn’t able to make amends to his mother and siblings until years later.
I know three women who’ve been raped. I can’t see how advocating for this heinous crime to be handled more seriously could be “sickening” to you. If you wish to treat it like a traffic incident, that’s up to you but I prefer the offense to get the full attention and weight of our justice system.
Sure — that’s a totally fair question.
Meat to feed family: OK, with qualifications.
If you want this utterly inhuman crime to stop, you have to be willing to jump through that hoop. Serious crimes *always* require serious scrutiny, as they should. If not, you’re treating it like a misunderstanding and letting it go on unchecked. That IS sickening.
If you know a couple that has been through a truly messy divorce, you almost certainly know someone who has been accused of rape (as one friend was and who didn’t see his kids for two years). Even if they weren’t arrested, that’s a stink that does not come off. My high school friend who was falsely arrested knew that…
How on Earth is that “grey”?! That is as clear a rape as can be. Witness (you), his own admission, forensics, etc. That is preposterously un-grey.
There is no “grey” rape. It is or is not. That’s where the reports and reality must collide. If you don’t report it, you fail all the women who have or will be raped. If you don’t report it, it simply “didn’t happen” and a monster goes free. Unless there was no monster. That is the only “grey” area I can see here that…
It’s far, far more common than I think anyone gets. Though only an anecdote, I’ve known two men falsely accused, both after cheating. One had his life destroyed and committed suicide, at which point the truth came out from the accusers’ friends. The other missed his children growing up (they only realized it was false…
Since I, one guy, have known TWO men falsely accused, I think it’s more prevalent than we think (one of them later took his life over it after losing his school, job, friends, etc.). Admittedly, this is just an anecdote but I was also involved in a survey of campus rape in the 90’s and discovered serious problems…
If I may, what model? If it helps, I share the unparalleled bliss of a dawn canyon run. :)
Aha! Your dad DID own a plane! I knew it!
He’s definitely holding out on you!
That’s not a “collection”, that’s mental illness.
Perhaps. Though a miserable life spent rotting in an African prison would be a closer approximation to justice.
Really? You actually think that’s a lot for a dentist? Nearly 40% of private airplanes are sold to dentists. They make obscene money.
The US has a solid extradition treaty with Zimbabwe but, sadly, we don’t honor extradition requests very often. Despite pillaging the world’s resources illegally, few Americans are ever rendered to justice.
I don’t think most people give two FF’s about his family either. He made that bed by taking his wife with him and raising children to think hunting endangered animals is okay.
