This is my favorite tiny snippet of a story EVER.

Assume no one gives a shit about your wedding.

Brides are awful but I think the bridal parties are also growing in insanity. I'm dealing with a maid of honor right now for a friend's wedding who is HELLBENT on getting the bridal party to dress in slutty Marie Antoinette costumes for the Marie Antoinette themed bridal shower.

This Texan was born to Republicans, went to a conservative university and now live in a 80% conservative district...but my heart is navy blue.

Diversity can be very disturbing for the simple minded.

I was just going to ask why conservatives find California so terrifying, but then again I was just in a street full of sweaty, mostly naked people for Folsom last weekend, so never mind. Diversity can be very disturbing for the simple minded.

and I hope you realize that what you might find offensive is not what someone else finds offensive, and that hoping she isn't called "baby giraffe" to her face is idiotic and concern trolling.

Barely. I asked this in another thread and someone was kind enough to help me and direct me to sources. Middle age can run anywhere from 35 to 65, depending on the governing body making the determination.

That's something that really drives me nuts as well. I just don't understand why humanity seems to loathe people who are overweight so fucking much. How does it even affect you people?

I was speaking in cultural terms, Dear. If you want to play statistics, than said exact middle age is still closer to 40 than 35 for both men and women in the United States for the time being, but how is that really relevant to the overarching discussion at hand?

don't tell me—35 for women, 55 for men?

pretty sure she's only 35 now. Is that considered middle age?

Yeah, I think thin and fat women both get a lot of unsolicited advice and appraisal on their appearance.

You have to realize that fat women are constantly fed this line of bullshit that their lives will be perfect if only they were thin. It's why there is so much resentment from fat women to skinny women. In our minds you just naturally have the one thing that will make our lives perfect, and you didn't have to work

I have a very pretty, very sweet coworker who I call "baby giraffe" because she has super gorgeous, long legs. She's really thin, but not unhealthy. So many clients come in and say, "she is just so skinny!!" Or "my god, does she eat?!" I get really defensive of my friend, and I always want to go off on them. I HATE

Honey, you're only 38! You're still beautiful. Come on, now.

People like you are like MRAs. On every article about fat-shaming, somebody has to chime in with "But people are skinny-shamed too! Being fat isn't the only source of ridicule! Derailment Derailment Derailment". It's like how every article about women being raped is met with comments by MRAs "Men get raped too, you

I know. I am 38, and guess what? 20 years ago I was beautiful too.

And who the fuck looks like they did 20 years ago, anyway? It's called middle-age. Happens to the best of us.

Well, the issue people seem to have with Apple isn't the fact that she's thin... she was always super thin. It's because she seems to be, a)unstable b)a heroin addict (not to mention.. being very thin). This combination is catnip for the concern trolls..
