I have a car that originally required 91, and it’s now tuned and requires 93. Anything less and it starts knocking badly. My wife’s car has the same engine but untuned, so sometimes I’ll put 91 in hers if it’s available, but the price difference between 93 and 91 is usually only a couple cents.

I believe they also have height and weight limits and you have to be able to run a long distance relatively quickly, so you don’t get the giant players like normal schools.
