For the first time since I attempted it I gave up. Too much life, too many kids, too much study, not nearly enough idea of where the novel was going to go.

True, but a lot of people avoid a lot of thinking by assuming something about another person and then dismissing everything that person says based on their assumption. It makes their lives easier, I guess.

Like most apocalyptic threats, the antibiotic-resistant one will most likely just make the world more unpleasant and increase the cost of living here. It’s like we’re deliberately trying to make things difficult for ourselves.
