A) So because there have been abuses of the judicial system in the past, we should feel cool about ongoing abuses of the judicial system? The fact that the system has been fucked is perhaps an explanation as to why Thiel’s move is not surprising, but not an excuse. In fact, it’s evidence that Thiel’s activity is worse

That’s not the way the system is supposed to work.

No, lawyers are evil people. But if you want to institute some formal, logical, rational mechanism by which we establish what is fair territory and what is not, the lawyers are the ones who hash it out.

They do.

It gets messy quickly doesn’t it? Which public figures deserve more investigating? We could, reasonably, argue about that forever. My point is that it’s generally considered better to say, “The press is free, until it isn’t” rather than “The press isn’t free until it is.”

Go after the nurse. Journalists dont’ have to obey HIPAA.

I mean, honestly, you have to be either brain dead or willfully ignorant to think they arent’ doping.

Forty years ago, East German swimmers made the biggest jump in time that anyone had ever seen, blasted past all standing records... and now those very swimmers openly admit they were doping at insane levels. Now in 2016, she is much faster than than the heavily-doped East German swimmers were and her times are jumping

Seriously, biggest jump since the East Germans. But it's because she, uh, practices harder because, uh, she lives in a democracy! Go Coca Cola!

Try not to think of the corruption, the desperately poor Brazilians who were robbed and forced out of their homes so you could enjoy this hour of heavily edited television!
