Having worked in 3 different sandwich shops, 2 of them as a manager ... I have never once heard of people getting their tax exempt status in this way. they always have to file it after, and still pay us said tax.

Now I wasn’t working in a sit down restaurant, but when I was a manager at a Carl’s Jr I got asked this question so much. “What’s your favorite burger?” and... they were all disgusting, I hate Carl’s JR, so I would just say something expensive “Oh I love a half pound jalapeno burger” ...
