Since my idea of going all out is to slap on some mascara and elevate my heel maybe 1 inch, my opinion counts for little, but I gotta say: I love everything about that look except the boots. I think that making them checked too makes the outfit too busy. Plus, she’s a contender for most beautiful woman in the world

From the Bloomberg article:

I agree, but also can we all admit that we haven’t gotten there yet since apparently a woman can’t be president? And I don’t care to hear anyone getting in my face with “A woman but not THAT woman” until there’s a woman in the White House. Until then, it’s tired nonsense.

United Nations Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide

Article II

In the present Convention, genocide means any of the following acts committed with intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnical, racial or religious group, as such:

a) Killing members of the group;
b) Causing

It is not the job of the police to decide whether this white man killing a black man over a parking space is justified because of Stand Your Ground, aka Lynching Writ Law. It’s the job of the courts. The sheriff needs to stop pontificating and arrest this man.

Oh hey, no big! Thanks for your correction. I hope my response is as gracious next time someone corrects me.

Argh. I agree with so much of what you say except this: “It’s funny because if we floated the idea that a white person play a POC, there would be pretty universal agreement that such would be bad.”

Surely if he thinks that lynch law was passed years ago, our turtle friend has no reason to oppose it, right? Right?

If I recall from my research several years ago, the opposition to the Dyer Anti-Lynching Bill was something like, “But if we make lynching a crime, how can I defend the honor of my daughter/wife?” So yeah.

This is a human rights travesty, full stop. We are putting small children in concentration camps, isolated from their parents and in a strange county, in 105 degree heat. Not to mention that just like the California Missions and Indian Boarding Schools before them, these types of situations are bound to be rife with

TWIST. It’s a lady!

Yes, exactly! These same people supported slavery even though they’d never be slave owners. They’ll support any issue that keeps black people down, even if they suffer as a result. All those think pieces about rural white America after the election and it’s as simple as that.

SERIOUSLY.

Bravo.

Mary Church Terrell was instrumental in the fight for the Dyer Anti-Lynching Bill. If only we’d been able to pass a bill saying there should be legal penalties for a mob to take a human life and then for local law enforcement to lie about it. The fact that it was even able to get to Congress for debates is a freaking

I’ll play! I think that the Trade Deal and Autoworkers tweets are staff-generated. They use complete (albeit badly-structured) sentences. Also, not enough exclamation points.

I wish they didn’t have to wait 5 years before being allowed to be able to register to vote, but this is an important first step.

I grew up down the street from Brookside Gardens and all my classmates who lived in Olney and thought my brown father was Indian (he’s Mexican, you dopes) were terrified of Wheaton/Glenmont and called it ghetto all the time. Nonetheless, I won’t even say I’m “from” DC but will launch into an unwelcome explanation of

I’m sure he’s just going to surprise me. Right? Right??

#1 favorite Nextdoor thread I remember reading was someone taking a picture of a cat and saying, “does anyone know whose cat this is? He’s really friendly, eats the food I give him, but is always in a hurry,” something like that, and then further down this woman goes, “that’s my cat! He is walking me and my dog!
