I moved to Bristol (in England) a few months ago, and all the locals use EVERY verb like that. So, "I done something", "I seen something", "I been to", etc. The single worst thing about living here.

I'm pretty sure they aren't literally saying you're an NPC, but that you're a character which has many of the traits usually associated with NPCs. 'NPC' is a convenient and illustrative shorthand to convey their intention.
