That sound you heard was Drew Magary spiraling down a vortex of sorrow.
You need to develop your “fuck the hell off” skills. “No” is an incredibly powerful word. Walking out is also incredibly powerful. I’ve done both.
I think it also makes it better for selling as a box set or as rights to other markets / streaming.
Actually, the reason why the networks now give genre shows short final seasons (and make exceptions for things like Peggy Carter, which didn’t build up a cross-season mythology) is that long-running shows with endings get all of the play on Netflix and Amazon Prime. Shows that end mid-story get ignored. Even if they…
Padme dying is a continuity error. In Return of the Jedi, Luke asks Leia what she remembers of her real mother. Leia says that she was always sad. That’s just pandering to Portlandia.
And the writers never did figure out what to do with Juliet. Or Eve. Or whatever.
Wow. 6 Seasons!
Six seasons is a good run . . . and also I’m glad it’s ending.
Can’t say I’m surprised. The narrative arc of S5 stretched my suspension of disbelief beyond its limits. Grimms, monsters, witches? Sure. I’m with you. But Portland as some sort of springboard for worldwide political domination? Wut?!
I actually think “Born Leader” is better and more flattering than “Future Leader.”
I heard that. I’m generally there for deals on stuff I need, or to get sketches. I’m in and out in under an hour.
Nine Worlds has recently started to try to address that with its communications preferences system:
