I would rather just ensure my life is fun and fulfilling instead of being obsessed with and living vicariously through celebrities.

I am envious to say the least! Unfortunately I have spent my entire career in the DC and NYC areas so commuting has always been terrible. Hell, I can’t even make the 7 mile drive to my kid’s school on local roads without hitting a 5-10 minute traffic slowdown at a busy intersection or roundabout. On the rare occasion…
I’m with you. Sure, society makes it hard to live without a car, but this guy repeatedly made bad decisions without learning from previous experiences. And as others have mentioned, this goes beyond a poor understanding of money management and into the realm of poor impulse control.
I guess there are some people out there who have decent commutes. I, unfortunately, don’t and while I love driving my M5 when roads are mostly empty, commuting in it is not fun.
I’m with you on that. I have driven many high-performance SUVs and while I always love good engineering and performance, I have never felt the need to buy one and would rather see better fuel efficiency and a more competitive price than all-out performance. I really don’t need a commuter or family car that gets to 60…
I have been an enthusiast since early childhood and spent most of my twenties and thirties driving manual cars. But then I experienced the luxury of using an EV drivetrain in bumper-to-bumper traffic and it totally changed my outlook on driving. Now, in my early forties, I love my manual M5 but am unable to really…
Sure, astronauts are cool, especially ones who pioneered space travel and landed on the moon but this is a $15K car at best. It’s in great shape but it lacks a manual and is not a low-mile garage specimen. On the upside, people will mistake it for a Ferrari California.
I would imagine the LeBarons of law are more like Lionel Hutz.
Attorneys at top Class-A law firms typically bill out at $500-$800 per hour for associates and partners can go from $800 up to $2K but the top of the range is reserved for the top litigators and partners in the country (ie the LeBrons of the law industry).
These are all very good points. I have a fully paid off 9 year old X5 diesel with 136K miles on the clock and don’t bat an eye on consumables or preventative maintenance repairs that are essential once most cars hit 6-figure mileage. I just spent over a grand replacing LCAs and bushings which might seem crazy for a…
I am surprised nobody recommended the i4. I have spent some time in the M50 version at BMW autox event and came away extremely impressed with its performance, feel, and ability to utilize braking regen to keep the right amount of weight on the nose before going into turns. For the 99% of time that it will be spent…
This happens all the time on construction sites. If your house or office was built between 2000 and 2008 or 2014 and present, there is at least one piss bottle hiding behind your finished drywall.
Is this how the new “Vette-inspired” EV crossover will be made? This is the same way they breed Ligers.
In those situations, it is not just a misunderstanding of relative speeds but also a complete lack of empathy towards others. Some are even malicious, not wanting others to pass them or trying to “enforce” road rules by blocking faster traffic. Regardless, they all fit into the same category of assholes.
They just started implementing this in the USA, at least for people with Global Entry. My main port of call is Newark Airport and recently when returning from Spain, they used facial recognition and never once looked at my passport. The process was so efficient and fast that I had to pinch myself.
Very good point. As a mechanical engineer and someone with extensive driving experience/training both on the road and at the track, I have an above average theoretical and practical understanding of relative speeds and even I have a tough time at night when cars are going significantly faster or slower than expected. …
Most drivers have a very difficult time understanding relative speeds between their vehicles and approaching vehicles from any direction. The truck most likely assumed the vehicle coming to the intersection would stop or at least slow down and posed a low risk for collision. Additionally, the truck was on a…
I’m with you. I look forward to pulling on the interstate, switching on auto pilot, and letting my car enter a convoy of closely spaced vehicles traveling efficiently at 80+ mph without bobbing and weaving. It will change the worst part of my day (I like my job and love spending time with my family) into one of the…
It’s actually a toss-up between my brother and sister-in-law for very different reasons. My brother-in-law drives like a maniac by driving erratically, speeding and shooting gaps in heavy traffic, and generally just assuming others will give in and let him rule the road. He also has a history of wrecking cars (at…
Just remember, they aren’t here for our safety, they are here to raise money for their states and localities which rely heavily on traffic fines to fund their budgets. They prefer to sit on the side of the road looking for mostly innocuous speeders instead of actively patrolling the roads and looking for aggressive…
