Yeah that was a garbage feature and definitely the biggest problem I saw with Vegas (particularly 2 since I owned that and played it much more).

As soon as I got 8.1, I downloaded StartIsGone. The start button does not add anything for me and takes away precious taskbar space. It is only useful for tablets where you don't have a Windows key on a keyboard or a mouse that can easily access the lower right corner super easily.
