You really kale-d it. I am green with endives...er, envy.

I did not use the word ‘bad’, nor even imply it.

Part of what you’re seeing as bad sci-fi or tech is that almost everything in these movies is serving a purpose other than what it originally was meant for. The Falcon was a cargo ship operated by a crew being used as a hot rod flown by two people. C-3PO isn’t a “translator” despite his fluency in language—he is

All the switch-flipping of the various nightmare interfaces are among the many cues that actions are skill-based. On the one hand, almost nothing in SW is automated. Everything is meant to feel ‘seat of the pants’ like adventure movies from pulp/serial adventures. Flying pods, fighters, or the Falcon is very manual.

You really planted those puns.

He’s definitely living his salad days. Lettuce say, it looks like the dressing will be on the side soon. She doesn’t look too excited, though. Why the lawn face, I wonder? I hope she’s getting a good celery.

I would love if it the Wachowskis made a TV show or Netflix show set in the Matrix. I recently rewatched the first movie and it really does hold up (although I’m reticent to watch the others). A long form story set in the same universe might be great.

Gotta admit, started disagreeing with you at the post title.

What I’m trying to suss out is how much of any of this is a) Mysterio’s fakery, b) Chameleon’s fakery, or c) MCU normal trailer head-fakery.

Or Fury is Chameleon and he fooled Mysterio or they were in on it or some combination of those things.  Maria Hill is nobody’s fool, so her appearance makes me doubt some of this head-fakery, but I’m not buying the story at face value.

An oblique Eurpoean X-Men tie in would be interesting.

Many seem to confuse divergent timelines, multiverse of Earths, multiple dimensions, and a multiverse.

I think this is most likely. But who knows? I can see the multiverse reveal to be a ruse but at the end, the real Nick Fury is like “Oh, there is an actual fracture to the multiverse. Look at this...”

It would be fantastic if the whole ‘Mysterio is from an alternate universething is just a ruse he concocted and Fury fell for it.

She was She-Hulk.

MJ is in there, as are a couple other classmates. I figure Peter and friends got REALLY lucky or really unlucky, depending on how you look at things.

And they didn’t. Doesn’t look like too many of his circle avoided snapture.

Before watching it, I’ve been wondering who among Peter’s classmates are now 5 years older. I noticed his bud Ned, but didn’t see MJ. Perhaps I was just distracted. Her being, what, 20 now would be... awkward.

Frankenstein Jr., Johnny Sokko and His Flying Robot, ... (100 more)...

I think you are right to worry. Reminds me of the Robocop remake which lost all the social and philosophical elements and just made a bland cyborg movie.
