This looked bad in the trailers — I got a definite 80s-grade, made-for-broadcast-TV-on-the-cheap vibe — and now reading the review it sounds even worse. The so-called “the institutional elements” were some of the most chilling parts of the book, equal to the Flagg-driven elements. De-emphasizing the US government’s rel

New bikes are certainly much more pleasant to ride, of course, but I’ve never had a problem in terms of reliability with a beater Schwinn. I’ve never had to change a cable on any of them — they had surface rust but they held. I might have changed the brake pads on my 10,000 mile Mirada once or twice but that’s it. My

I beg to differ. Cheapo 80s/90s-era vintage Schwinn ATBs make great multi-purpose urban/utility/gravel bikes. I had a ‘91 or ‘92 Schwinn Mirada Sport I put 10,000+ miles on before it was stolen. It stood up to potholes, urban commuting, winter riding, salt, rail trails, grocery shopping (with rack and Wald baskets)

What gorgeous blonde?

From what I understand, Geffen also uses his giant diesel superyacht as a base of operations for his climate change activism.

Night of the Living Dads...

Some of those scenes had a definite The Last Man on Earth vibe (the one with Vincent Price, not Will Forte), what with the bodies scattered around the streets and all. Wonder which one was first — both were apparently released in 1964. TLMOE should really get the credit for inventing the Romero-style zombie.

Sorry to trigger you snowflake.

It was equally tone-deaf when he sang it. A man with a custom Rolls-Royce and Manhattan penthouse singing “imagine no possessions” and “no need for greed”? Please.

“Imagine” was stupid when John Lennon sang it too, though...

Hmmm… To me the income inequality issue is not strictly leftist, it can be leveraged by both sides in their own ways. Certainly conservatives have spun the whole “downtrodden rural working class vs oppressive out-of-touch liberal elite thing” into an economic argument in their favor. Regulating and globalizing

Well, I must say it seems exceptionally clumsy and obvious to me. Not that I care, mind you, I’m a fan. For me the allure of a good story will generally trump (no pun intended) my distaste for the author’s politics...

Well, let’s see, the bad guys were decadent, effeminate (read “gay”) urban elites who controlled the media and the wealth, banned regular folk from having weapons and used the power of Big Government to enslave the good guys, so basically a right-wing cartoonish caricature of liberals. Said good guys were all tough, ha

Just in case anyone was unclear on whether Pete Davidson was annoying as fuck and this movie would be utter torture, that second photo will clear up any doubt.

ehhh, coddling of the right wing worked out quite nicely for The Hunger Games. I’ll admit I even sent a fair amount of my own dollars their way...

ummm...

Past, present and future all exist simultaneously on the space/time continuum, according to the physics-for-dummies books I’ve read.

And here all these years I thought “Willys” was pronounced “Willis”...

It’s escalated pretty crazily here in the Chicago area too in recent years. Used to be a blue collar urban thing, now they’re everywhere. However, I myself am perfectly fine with any excuse to consume more pastries.

Personally, I have nothing but admiration for talentless hacks like E. L. James and Robert Kirkman for having the savvy to somehow parlay their horrible work into lucrative multimedia empires. If only I could do the same with my own horrible fiction...
