I'm not a fan of John Stewart, especially after that rally to restore sanity stunt. He does the false equivalency both-sides-of-the-media-are-equally-contributing-to-the-toxicity-with-their-rhetoric thing while exempting himself.

She does.

HAHA! Willie Geist is creepy-calm! You nailed it.

I think sometimes we (as in the black community) live in bondage when it comes to issues of representation. We are so caught up in not wanting to portray negativity that we silence the voices of those who we deem "unworthy" of a platform. I'm not going to live my life in the shadow of racists' perception of me. Trust

I agree! This isn't racist, it's their reality. Was Shawty-lo irresponsible about birth control? Absolutely. But this is also a highly unusual situation which Oxygen is trying to capitalize off of. He clearly has the means to provide for his children and he's in their lives. And despite the bickering, the mothers come

It sounds like you're projecting on your own stereotypes. This man is there for his kids and provides for them and tries to maintain the peace. It's not conventional, but I don't see what's so shiftless about it.

Touche! LOL

May God have mercy on your soul

Then why offer an opinion on a subject matter you don't know about.

Ha! My ideal guy is the type who, after seeing my brand spanking new outfit says, "For some reason which I can't put my finger on, you look really nice today." BOOM! That's it. I don't want to discuss details, labels, or hear how much better he likes it than my previous look.

Gaucho pants are disgusting! Agreed!

Before Kanye, she used to be really well dressed for red carpet events and public appearances. Even if her outfits were revealing, they at least didn't add 10 lbs to her small frame because they were cut the right way

No matter how you feel about Kim as a public figure, you had to hand it to her for knowing how to dress for her body type. However, her Kanye era fashion bombs has only further solidified my (albeit, paranoid) distrust in a man's ability to dress me. It's kind of ridiculous because at this point, I would probably give

This comment was mean and body snarly. Please meet me in time out over at Gawker so we can snicker together.

I made this assertion based on statements she's made about women and men in the MANY videos of hers that I've seen. I find her whole explain-the-cooky-things-that-make-girls-tick-to-guys schtick tiresome because they're based on the same dull Cosmo Magazine tropes.

No, I've actually seen manyyy of her videos and came to that conclusion based on her actions and statements. You see, I wanted to like her, but I always found something off-putting about her persona. It's only recently that I've been able to put a finger on what has bothered me.

I've noticed that too! And like you, I've never been a fan because she was very "now see girls, this is what's wrong with you."

I've never been a fan of hers. She comes across as the "hottie" guys' girl—the type of girl who would rib the nearest dude in a bar and lament about dumb chicks in order to contrast herself with the rest of her sex and get attention.

I'm certainly not glad that she is being called a whore either. But to reiterate your own words, I am glad that she is being viewed as a young woman with a healthy sex/dating life. The problem I had is why up until now, despite evidence of having many boyfriends/lovers, was she hailed as "virginal?" I think the answer

I think you misunderstand me. Miss Swift is neither a virgin nor a whore—she is a normal young woman with and active and healthy sex life. To place her or any other visible woman in pop culture in either category based on preconceived sexist/racist views of female sexuality does a disserve to all women.
