It’s because this news story isn’t actually a news story, which is why reputable sites like The Guardian haven’t published anything on it. Apparently these court documents were actually interspersed with stuff that came off the internet, as in, were probably faked. As per usual, Jezebel is reporting on things that are

I’m in no way defending Jackson, as allegations against him are serious and will always continue to be suspect with what went on leading up to his original trial, but YET AGAIN Jezebel is publishing completely un-sourced claims with a story that only untrustworthy news sources are reporting on!
You are an appallingly

From what I hear he was a real cinephile too. Loved film and was really in it for the craft. He had a lifetime of interesting character roles ahead of him. Was a real talent to watch.

He drove his car a ways down his driveway, got out and doubled back to pick his mail up out of the brick mailbox attached to his front gate, the car rolled backwards down the steep hill of his driveway and pinned him to the mailbox. :((

His volcano actually looked like a volcano, her volcano looked like a rock with a human woman’s face drawn on it. Which might have been his intention, to try and not make his wife look ‘ugly’ by de-anthropomorphizing her, but it just made it look like more of the usual regular male thing / sexy female thing that goes

The craggy volcano that falls in love with a rock with a realistic human woman’s face carved onto it. Yeah, that was bad.

Context is everything, but it’s the one thing the media love to ignore.

Worth noting that the audience gave Stewart a standing round of applause at the end, and her performance is getting good reviews even if reviews for the movie itself are mixed. She’s done well this festival and I hope she continues doing well. I’d love to see her become a real indie darling.

Okay this looks much more coherent! I think it’s going to be a good fun time and anyone who doesn’t think so can go watch the original on DVD opening weekend and stop your whining.

In the spirit of Jezebel I’ll just say you all look exactly like the kind of people that would work at Jezebel. By which I mean, the kind that hang out in a group in the kitchen at parties talking trash about everyone else in attendance, but also have such delicate egos they get super offended when they hear there’s a

I agree the casting of The Ancient One should have been handed differently, but I should point out that Michelle Yeoh is Chinese-Malaysian. Casting her in the role of a character that is meant to be Tibetan would be problematic on so many levels I can’t even count!

What do you mean by “clarity”? Like they haven’t done enough environment modulation on the voice? If Laika wanted a strong sounding female voice for the Monkey, what would be different about the end result with someone that did voice acting for a living? Just asking because I hear this said a lot about studios hiring

That Monkey’s fur! The individual tufts waving around in the wind! HOW?!?

The soundtrack for this movie is going to be on repeat constantly for me the moment it’s released. That cover is something else.

It look gorgeous! You just do not see films like this made anymore, and to have such an epic looking stop motion is just wow! It seems like Laika has been saving their pennies to build up to this big one and I’m really excited for them. I hope it’s a big hit!

I love hearing about those kinds of behind the scenes disasters.

One thing they could have done was invite some people schooled in cultural sensitivity to the studio to talk it over with them and try and find the best way to go about making the changes. That would have been my first port of call, to talk to people that knew more than me and get their advice. It would have made them

This seems like the most probable reason to me. They changed the character from a Tibetan man to a white woman in the hopes the gender swap would head off criticism of the change. I would say props to them for casting an established and talented actress over 50 in such a big role, but with the amount of Asian roles

I’m sure the reason we see so many of the best over-the-top and self-aware performances given by these incredibly talented, Academy award winning thespians is because they’re the only ones with enough experience to realize when it’s going tits up on a film set. It’s the only thing you can do once you’ve signed on the

Gina Gershon is my absolute favorite part of that movie. I unironically love everything she does with those appalling lines.
