See, I like folks who think that. Because after the agent is done rebooking a bunch of obnoxious jerks, I go up there and say please and thank you and don’t treat them like they’re personally responsible for breaking the plane or summoning the wrath of Poseidon, and they tend to give me whatever I want.

Military kid. Saw the whole spectrum of schools/towns growing up. Can confirm: curriculums can get suspiciously fluid if you cast a wide enough net.
There’s also a matter of scale. A US spatula might be a couple bucks more—hell, even at double the cost, it’s still what, eight bucks?—but for more expensive goods the extra percentages can really add up.
