You're thinking of remake. Reboot is any form a franchise takes coming back if it's been dormant for years. 2011 Star Trek is a reboot, even though it's technically a sequel/prequel/time travel fuckery. Ditto the new Terminator and Jurassic Park movies. It's a sort of subjective label.
