Yikes. Her singing sounds heavily auto tuned. She sounds awful. Couldn’t they just dub her voice with someone who can sing well? This is giving me bad flash backs to Les Mis.

I think the issue is that you wind up with an audio equivalent of this:

Can we talk about how much auto-tune they are slathering on her voice? It sounds like she would sound lovely without it. I can’t listen to it with all of the auto tuning.

Pixar already does something like this. Often, they will basically make a new, short cartoon that shows the themes of the movie without giving away plot details.

I actually found the opposite. The first half dragged like crazy, whereas the second half at least found the energy to not be unbearable. (Plus I had the energy burst of “ooh, I’m running out of pages, I’m almost done!”)

I do think the book sagged a bit in the middle. That said, it was still better than the movie. Without giving any spoilers, they changed quite a lot and it looked as if it was due to budget constraints. Worse yet, the zombies are just silly. They just bark like dogs and snap their jaws.

I’m expecting a different experience than the book, especially given that the trailer pretty much dispenses with the big reveal in the first part of the book. And then so much of it happens in people’s heads, too. Probably what it loses in that character intimacy, it’ll make up for in the pacing of how the story…

While you are correct it’s sad that so few mentions of the issue are raised, I remember the last tweet from nemoy was something about his issues he got from smoking and how he wish he never had started. Huge endorsement for The Secret of Kells. Gorgeous art, subtle script, beautiful music, amazing voice work from Brendan Gleeson and the child actors. Just the thing to get your family out of the “kid film” rut.

He wrote in the liner notes of the sountrack to the first movie that he included references to Holst’s “The Planets” on purpose. He wasn’t “stealing” anything, and would appear to have enough talent that he has no need to steal anything. He flat-out said he was doing it!
