There have been plenty of cities, neighbourhoods, etc. that from time to time have a massive car-break-in problem, and people often respond by leaving their cars unlocked so that would-be thieves can have a quick rummage (without smashing any windows) and move along to the next car. Those types are looking not to

I guess if it makes you feel better, sure, go ahead and plan your travel that way. But I don’t see how the effort is worth the supposed gain. This is another example of how humans will ignore the most significant and most common risks to their lives and health, refusing to take even the most simple steps to be safer,

I wouldn’t be surprised if this wasn’t an “accident”; absolutely no one heard of this person prior to this

Crash tests are awful.

My money is on “geriatric rematch” autocorrected into absurdity.

You know shit is getting bad when a resort city tells people to stay the fuck away. I suspect the hope is that with the spring break dipshittery significantly reduced, regular people will be more likely to vacation there, so it’s not like they will be killing off the tourist industry.

Where I come from, when you come across some problem on the road that poses a danger to drivers and/or will significantly slow or even stop traffic on a highway, you get the hazard lights on posthaste. This can not only save approaching drivers from becoming part of said problem, it also reduces the chances of you bein

You might as well save your vodka for drinking, because 40% alcohol will not disinfect anything.

Back in my youth, I saw my neighbour’s 1973 Plymouth Satellite station wagon rear-end a smaller, newer wagon and absolutely demolish it. The Satellite was completely unscathed, thanks in part to those big rubber blocks on the front bumper.

Manual cars are safer.

I like this better than what Toyota/Lexus typically includes, which are not customizable to different cup sizes.

Universities are not McDonalds; it’s not like they’re all the same so you just go to the closest one. He obviously chose the school with the program that suited him, then his rent went up significantly. He’s in his final year, and it’s perfectly understandable that he wants to finish at UBC.

Exactly. When I see this...

Careered is absolutely a real word, and it’s used appropriately here. (But it is more commonly used by the British, while careen is more commonly used by Americans.) I was taught that careen describes more a side to side lurching or swaying, while career is going headlong at speed.

Thanks for the link. I couldn’t find one in the story. (Although there were lots of links to stories about traffic causing hearing damage, PIT maneuvers, random Florida cop stuff, squirrels, and weird car windows. So there’s that.)

No shit. Seeing that cop dump his mag into the car, and reading that another cop joined in, and all I can think is whether the poor fucker cuffed in the back lived through it. Even just a link to the source story would have been nice.

Fair enough. (We may be annoyed by your damnable American cheek, but that is outweighed by our appreciation for the courtesy of a prompt response.)

apologised [sic]

Yep, that was going to be my pick too. They surprised me the first time - I wasn’t expecting it to move the way it did. Touch on the inside to unlock, touch on the rectangular dimple to lock. Bonus points for the well-located, old-fashioned keyhole on the driver’s door if you need it.

Holy crap, what a bunch of babies. DFW! Toronto Pearson! Newark! Denver! Those places are the height of luxury and drowning in delightful amenities. You should join me sometime on a trip to Bloodvein River Airport in northern Canada.
