Modern ejection seats will work at zero altitude.
Modern ejection seats will work at zero altitude.
yes, zero/zero as in zero speed, zero altitude.
No more pain where you are, boy.
5M does not compute.
Martin Baker Zero-Zero ejection seats. Safely eject from your stricken aircraft at 0 knots and 0 feet, or even under water!
They were invented in the late 60's, but I have no idea what aircraft they are actually installed in, only that they exist.
No there typically isn’t these days. Most modern fighter ejection seats are 0/0. They are capable of a safe ejection sitting on the ground or deck, and at 0 knots (not moving). That being said, there are always injuries associated with an ejection. Sometimes minor, sometimes major back damage or lacerations. It’s…
The ACES II seat, used in most modern USAF fighters, is a 0/0 seat. Meaning it’s rated to perform at 0 feet altitude and 0 mph forward speed. Technically, it would work if engineered into the cars correctly.
Sort of. Ejection seats these days have what I believe is called a “zero-zero” capability. Zero altitude, and zero speed.
Nope, they can be launched from the ground.
Now that I know what it is, I would assume it’s covered in the same insulation foam as the rest of the booster. As with the external tank from the Shuttle, why paint it?
I think that’s the liquid oxygen feed to the engines.
Oddly Twitter marked this launch photo as “sensitive material” on my feed.
To call a rocket “fast” doesn’t really mean all that much. The speed it can get its payload all comes down to the ratio of fuel mass to payload mass and the exhaust energy (specific impulse).
No choice? Sorry but I’m not buying that. This is all about consumerism and current American tastes in vehicles, and that’s all. Note that I have no problem with that. Back in the day the most popular thing was a station wagon and before that giant sedans. We like big things. Big trucks, big houses, big TVs.... Big…
Begging the French for a favor is why America exists though
Small cars are generally cheaper too, and take up less space Not everyone can afford a giant SUV or a giant parking space.
Looks like USA is a very unique market in that regard, but they’re just one oil crisis away from a small car “comeback”
No, they’ll start dumping their larger SUVs for smaller SUVs.
