That’s why i was using Toyota cars, since they do have engine partnerships, I’m sure Toyota wouldn’t mind a bit of chassis tuning experience for some sporty cars or hot hatches.
why doesn’t Lotus do what they used to do and tune other brand’s cars and then call them Lotuses? I suppose they couldn’t do it with Ford or GM anymore but imagine something like a Lexus RC tuned by Lotus, or a Lotus iM hot hatchback
I really don’t understand what you’re wanting Lotus to do? Lotus being able to work their magic and make the Evora 400 comfortable as well as sporty is bad how? It’s still more sporty and above all more direct, balanced, good to drive and has better feel than just about any sports car in the world. It’s damn fast too.…
They don’t, but they make a 2.0 boxer engine that could be turbocharged to 300 hp easily. and since Toyota has a partnership with BMW now, they make a small V8 that could be used in the top model..
Selling exclusively Lotus type cars is what keeps getting Lotus in trouble. Unfortunately. Lotus seems to have learned a bit and we know a SUV is coming. Yeah it’s sacrilege, but Lotus with a side business of making lightweight valentines is better than no Lotus at all.
Yeah at this point I’m not really getting my hopes up. I mean the Miata is 2,300 lbs and, but costs a lot less. Hopefully all that extra money that the Elise costs goes into figuring out how to add lightness without dropping air bags.
I just hope this means that the whole “we’re bringing the next Elise/Exige to America” rumor is coming true.

Don’t think Toyota makes anything like that anymore, but keep in mind that the Esprit only had 350hp. These days you can get that out of a 2.3L turbo-4.

It’s a bit misleading too. The Lotus car division hasn’t been profitable, but most of their business is consulting for major manufacturers. And there is the F1 arm.
It’s more powerful than the original, but just as cushy. Honestly, that’s not such a bad thing for Lotus as the thing that was keeping them in the profit gutter was they really didn’t have any mainstream appeal. Selling cars to people like me is just not a profitable enterprise.
Hopefully it means the Evora 400 is selling well. If I had the money, I would love one.
