Okay, that tends to “spoil” the whole book. Maybe that is the price people have to pay, but wouldn’t codes be better? Or I suppose vague triggers at the beginning?
Absolutely. We can’t protect one another from every bump in the road, but a discussion on how to be kinder to others is never unwarranted, and it’s not PC culture run amuck to say we know certain topics are particularly “dangerous” to some readers. These subjects should be written about, and read, but if there is a…
I’m going to assume you misread this as my opinion rather than me elaborating on the thoughts of others I’d encountered in the discussion, thoughts that in I firmly found to be disgusting since that was the point of my OP.
There’s also porcine, and equine, and -- my fave -- vulpine. Probably some other -ines.
Yeah, I would say that the things that have hit me hardest in books are the things I never suspected were coming.
The sense this is meant in is that these people cannot handle life in general, and can’t differentiate between fiction and reality. That they need to be culled from the herd if they are upfront about being triggered.
Someone posted a thread in a Facebook book discussion group asking if books should have trigger warnings. I came away from it with the distinct feeling that cruelty is winning. People who are triggered by books are weak and should not read. Also, if you research, you will never be surprised by anything in a book.…

I just joined a book subscription service — Classics and Coffee, I think it’s called — and the first book is going to be The Moonstone.
I think I saw the article that brought you here yesterday. You mean the screw-up of her last name? I rolled my eyes a little. I was a sweet summer child in 2013, and am way too exhausted with world events to feel anything more than mild disappointment at lowered internet editing standards.
Right. He chooses to see it in a materialistic, social climbing sense, while she could have very well meant to not waste your time with people who are only there to drain you.

He thinks he likes the money, and is a toxic human being who tells himself -- and anyone who will listen -- how wronged he has been. His daughter is doing the only thing she can in not giving him new access. As bad as this is, there is no scenario where having a relationship with him won’t be worse.
What show is she watching where dogs are routinely kicked off? Westminster? And, Trump, yeah -- he missed the memo that dogs are, you know, famously popular and thought of as loyal.
Well, I’d always prefer people give me money. :)
Okay. And as mentioned, I think that person asking the question needs to address it to the restaurant. I am just explaining why at my restaurant I wouldn’t charge, my rationale for my little place.
Right, either she deliberately used racist rhetoric towards a black woman, or she couldn’t be bothered to really learn basic facts about Valerie Jarrett before buying into some right wing outrage, not even 5 minutes on her Wiki page, before tossing out accusations. There is no explanation that makes her blameless.
