the “Report:” in front of stories like this should hopefully clarify that this isn’t an original story and is largely based on reporting from another - or multiple - pubs
Maybe now Vince will have enough qualifications to run for the Republican presidential nominee!
The AI people all say if they had to pay to license the content it’s trained on, it would be impossible. In which case, I feel like that’s fine. I can’t do all kinds of things because they’d be illegal.
fucking better employee protection and labor rights, like civilized countries
I got something similar from Dell back in the early 2000s . But yeah nowadays theres a lot of loopholes etc for companies to skimp on actually paying staff they’ve let go . (via just hiring them with rolling contracts /or TUPE transferring (where you’re basically sold like assets to another company)
I know some of the jobs are in Ireland , where generally there is things like severance/redundancy etc , BUT!!! a nowadays lot of industry jobs here (in Ireland ) are now organised as contractor jobs , which means they dont get anything i the contract is terminated . So again the whole thing is shitty .-edit-…
If Dudesy made a cent from this, they deserve to have it and then some taken away from them.
I really hope this lawsuit (or one of the hundreds of others) is successful and sets a legal precedent that AI can only be trained on work that is explicitly licensed (and paid for). I suspect it may be too late to stop the inevitable tide of shit, but it would be some protection for artists.
Gated and locked and no one around? It was unlocked and there was no gate when I got there. No idea where this melted steel where the hinges would usually be came from. Must be termites.
I forgot all about this! I was going to check it out, but for some reason I decided to give that Teen Wolf reunion movie thing a look first, and then never finished it because it was ultra-mega-super terrible.
How can you even tell at this point? Regardless, they were only interested in the IPs, not the actual company.
It’s never a good look when the only saving grace of an action is that it’s not illegal, especially in a public relation letter....
Mike Nelson has called the original Road House the perfect intentionally so bad its good movie. Its clear no one making it was taking it seriously and everyone was having a blast. It shows on screen. Its not high art but as far as low art goes there is nothing better
Talking Sopranos mentions that a lot as well. He was one of those guys, who is just a character. If you have a problem with them, that’s your problem, as they often lack complete self awareness that anything they say or do is wrong. But comedically, it works so well. Of shows that were not ostensibly comedies, its…
We’ve been gaslit by pro-acquisition people over the last two years that “capitalism wont do the thing that it always will.” We have been spun a tale about how this merger will result in improved job security and that regulators like the FTC should be defunded for daring to oppose it. Dissenters got dogpiled.
Seeing as how we’re in the worst timeline, incoming announcement of Bobby Kotick as new President of Activision Blizzard.
Did you skim the article? It was absolutely mentioned.
Raising Arizona is my favorite movie. The Coens came out swinging with Blood Simple and then made something both perfect and completely different. If there was anyone you knew were going to go on to greatness after two movies, it was those guys. As for poignancy, show me a comedy with a more emotionally impactful…
Yeah Duel was a TV movie but it also saw theatrical release in some places and like, you’d be hard pressed to argue it’s not a proper film.
