Well naturally. Hanson-Young is a stone-cold monster! Why isn’t she consoling this poor beleaguered man who lobbed ugly, irrelevant insults at a colleague in their workplace???
Right? It’s SO GOOD.
I think you might mean 1997, not 1992—just a heads up! (I remember because LA Confidential was goddamn robbed at the Oscars when it lost Best Movie to Titanic.)
Probably unpopular take: The original Suspiria didn’t need to be remade. Argento’s work was for sure gory, but that really wasn’t its point—he’s all about aesthetics and mood. None of his movies make any goddamn sense. They’re all written by someone with a high fever who just got fed a liter of LSD, but they’re also…
Barr was problematic and abusive even during the first run of the show (I had the misfortune of personally experiencing that)
That’s definitely plausible and somehow even more unsettling, thank you!
It’s entirely possible that there was no particular motive behind it (the situation didn’t exactly lend itself to reasoned planning), but my first thought was that he’d been trying to keep himself awake and hoped the chains would help with that. Not that he had much reason to at that point, but lead is a hell of a…
I believe it’s just the swanky/official terminology for being certified to practice law.
Well, yeah. Danny Glover is too goddamn old for this shit.
They’ve done a really wonderful job of shifting his charm:menace ratio over the course of the series, I think.
Yeah, that sounds horrifying on every possible level. I grew up with Amish potato salad, which sounds kiiiind of like what you’re describing? Mustard, some vinegar, some paprika? (This was with all the other standard potato salad ingredients, obvs.)
I can only imagine what Chris Evans would have to say about that. Or the original Hitler-punching Cap, for that matter.
I stand corrected!
Part of the problem, I think, might be that they’ve got too many set-ups and not enough time. Jax has never really gotten as much development as the other characters, which is a shame—Franz Drameh is a serious asset on the show.
I absolutely agree—I think that’s why he bullied all his kids into getting law degrees, too. It was essentially a cult of personality for a long time, imo.
Yeah, it’s actually a pretty big issue—I remember Anna Merlan talking about it on this site, and I really appreciated how she actually changed her position re: suicide terminology in response to feedback like this.
Oh, I’m not saying it’s a bad idea at all—I just meant that making your (possible) sexual partners get tested for HIV implies that you know how dangerous HIV is.
Oh no, it’s worse than that. Trump used to make women get tested for HIV before going on dates with them, so he clearly knows it’s an issue—he just straight-up doesn’t care about anyone else.
a) This was all beautifully put and I chuckle-sobbed throughout it. I’ve spent the last couple days mostly just sobbing, so this was a welcome change, thanks!
