I don't really know. I got CS6 from my university for free, but before I got it I had paid for pixelmator. I guess it's just because I refuse to stop using something that I've spent money on.
I haven't gotten to play with Pixelmator 3.0 yet, but in 2.0 the only gripe I had was a lack of pinch-to-zoom. Its a tiny thing, and I feel like a superdouche for nitpicking at it, but I feel like such an intuitive gesture should have been included.
