Or at least Sausage Hitler.

“First we evaluated the cups for their most important quality: accuracy. We carefully filled each cup to its maximum capacity with both water and granulated sugar and weighed it on a calibrated lab-quality scale; then, knowing how much a cup of both water and sugar should weigh, we did the math to determine accuracy

Typo in title: “functional”.

The thing is, though, Econ 101 would say that a player should be paid his marginal revenue product. After reading an Econ 101 textbook, you would get the impression that the only reason to pay a player 6x times what he had been earning was if he became 6x more productive. So Ed really is just parroting an Econ 101

If this is true, this is the info I was looking for. I am certain that, holding the soil on the dishes constant, that the dishwasher is way more efficient at getting the dishes clean than me. But it is not immeidately clear to me that it is more efficient at cleaning a more soiled (i.e. dried on crud) dish than I am

Truthful answer? I don’t. I throw away the stem end. But I would do that mincing garlic (or an onion) with a knife anyway.

Acknowledged, but that’s not exactly the question I was asking. I want to know about efficiency. Does it take less energy/resources for me to rinse before the food is dry or for the dishwasher to blast after the food is dry? Does having the sensor cycle say “oh no, time to put the spurs on” everytime I run the

Hold on, though. If I don’t anticipate running my dishwasher every night, then there’s a good chance the food could get dried on the dishes in the dishwasher as they await the cycle. Then the question becomes, “Is it more efficient for me to run the dish under the faucet for a few seconds before adding to the

Yeah, microplane is certainly not as fast as a press, but may be faster than a knife depending on your knife skills. It certainly can’t accomplish a rough chop or a slice, and the resulting garlic goo is pretty pungent compared to even a fine mince.

Just commenting that the similarities have to end somewhere if Tig is good friends with one and not with the other.

I microplane almost exclusively now in situations calling for a mince; I think Kenji advocated as such in The Food Lab. There were some exceptions where hand mincing was worth the effort (something makes me think fried rice), but anything where you were just sauteeing briefly with other aromatics it seemed like any

Except that Tig and Sarah seem to be very good friends...
