I assume they’re working on a day-one patch that’ll include a bunch of tweaks and bug-fixes, hence the delay.

If that’s a question, then yes, yes it is. It is obvious that it is better.

Better than the professionally done anime somehow?

Jesus man Adult Swim needs to pick this up asap.

fuuuck 3d fucking animated? barf. even worse is the 15fps. 2d animation can get away with it... but dont fucking use low framerate “attempting” a 2d look... it ends up looking like utter shit. The cel-shading looks decent... if it was a game... but it makes this look like a cheap video game cutscene.

Is this supposed to be making fun of hipsters? because this is the hipsterist thing I’ve seen maybe ever. you attack with records, old camera film and hula hoops. and their designs. I love the art style and direction. but they’re so ‘stereotypical’ hipster that it has got to be a joke.

Couldn't just type the names of the games, huh?

are you saying there aren’t fans of American Football in Japan? because you would be very wrong.

Nintendo’s done nearly every other sport so why not this too?

First I hear of this, and it looks like something I would thoroughly enjoy. I hope they change the game font to something else though.

I got to say that the art direction is kinda all over the place here. The art at around 1:20 is clearly your typical anime 2D artwork which looks great but the artwork of the scene’s with Fox and crew looks like this strange, almost pastel mix of 2D and CG that in all honesty looks terrible.

Everything was done in that weird jerky 3D ...Except the random extras running around in the city? I mean it was an interesting watch but I don’t get why this style keeps cropping up. It’s like they animated it at a higher framerate, chopped it down to make it ‘look like traditional’ but it just looks like jittery 3D

Never been a fan of using a low FPS to make CGI look more like standard animation. I can tell it’s not hand-drawn, and it looks kind of bad when it’s that choppy.

Have you gotten past the first boss? I’ve had a few friends ragequit pre-Boss 1 (like, four I can immediately think of), then discover leveling and are now obsessed with it. You can level just by meeting (and losing to) the boss because you gain Insight (that eye thing under your currency) for meeting bosses.

And how can you say that video games are not a significant part of human expression and cultural growth? So many people on this website and other gaming websites have been greatly affected by video games in their lives. Video games have contributed so much to the expression and growth of people all around the world,

You seem to have a very narrow view of videogames themselves, and I suspect it's just because you haven't had much experience with them outside of the mainstream. Most true 'indie' games and home-brew projects aren't produced with the 'intent to make money'. Heck, I've got a shed-load of old independently developed

i can bet you're wrong :)

If I watched nothing but The Hangover and it's derivatives, I could easily say the same thing about cinema. Similarly, if I only ever read airport trash, then I could say the same about books.

i think that's an extremely shortsighted prediction (i wouldn't presume to make predictions about human culture in 500 years), but you're entitled to your opinion :/

This is truly a fantastic article. Not only is he really nailing every point, but the actual writing is just pleasant to read and instantly transports me back to the levels he's talking about. Truly an excellent article; one of the best I've read in a very long time.
