Hey, I’m just calling it like I see it. I’m sure there are legitimate critics of the film (although it hasn’t even been released yet). But yeah, most of the criticisms I’m seeing are transparently sexist.

I could go on about how Venkman comes across as shitty. His interactions with Janine are fucking nasty, particularly when he lists off all the other jobs (aparently shitty gendered jobs) she could be doing just because she asked for a bit of fair treatment and help that she was promised... I get that it’s supposed to…
Yeah, that’s sexism for you.
Comedy is subjective, but Spy was critically well-received. As was Bridesmaids. And they both made a ton of money. So financially and critically, both movies were a success.
Okay, but those movies are great. Spy is hilarious.
It’s almost like the sexes have historically been treated differently!
I’ve seen The Descent. It’s very good. I’m excited for Ghostbusters. Like I said: haven’t seen it yet, but if you can judge an entire movie (and it’s worth towards women) based off a second-long gif, then more power to you.
Back then no one knew what Ghostbusters was. We’ve had 30 years to absorb it. If they did a trailer that matched the original it would be one more comparison.
That’s just him. He can’t help it. Big dumb hottie.
Obligatory “I am actually excited for this movie and, in my opinion, Paul Feig’s past movies as well as his collaborations with Melissa McCarthy have been excellent and therefore a reason to - at least - give this the benefit of the doubt. I don’t think the marketers have done themselves any favours with the trailers,…
I don’t think so. In this trailer breakdown over at Empire, Paul Feig talks about the effects and how they’re mostly live action enhanced by CGI and I think the effect is really impressive. I mean, lets face it, no matter how you feel about the original film, the gargoyles “running” looks fucking dreadful now (like…
Swing and a miss!
I can’ wait to read about how this should have been a sequel and how the women aren’t funny and how they weren’t 4 scientists in the original (which this film should have been a sequel to and not a reboot starring 4 unfunny women...) and blah, blah, blah...
Honestly? This looks like a movie I’ll enjoy with friends and a few beers. It’s not going to live up to the classic status of the original, but whatevs. My childhood was Peter Pan and Alice in Wonderland. I’ve lived through worse haha.
