That was my gripe, the characterization. I don’t care about swapping genders, but they have two very different Taskmasters now. If someone left the theater wanting more silent scarred femme Winter Soldier, all they’re going to find is New York wise guy crook in the comics.

I don’t know if it was homophobic. It can be a difficult topic and features a lot of charged language. Seemed to me like he was just trying to escape without Twitter shitting itself. Just my 2 cents and it's probably worth less than that.
